Pastafarianism

Pastafarianism is a religion unlike most others. In Pastafarianism its followers worship "his noodlyness" or, FSM (Flying Spaghetti Monster). They believe that his noodlyness created the universe 5,000 years ago. According to pastafarians he did his very best to make it a wonderful sandbox for us humans, but so it is an imperfect world because he made this universe after a night of heavy drinking. We are his favorite universe because we have advanced further than any other universe he has created, and we have succeded in every challenge he has given us before.

Now time for something about the folowers themselves. The pastafarians have existed in secrecy for thousands of years and they only decided recently that it would benefit his noodlyness if they showed themselves. Some more about pastafarians is that they dont believe that any other religion is true or ever has been. They are extremely fond of beer. They believe that pirates were the first pastafarians and that they were peaceful explorers made out to seem violent by christians. The holy day of pastafarians is Friday. They embrace contradictions and make sure not to take themselves too seriously. They even have their own version a common christian prayer. it goes as such “Our pasta, who art in a colander, draining be your noodles. Thy noodle come, Thy sauce be yum, on top some grated Parmesan. Give us this day, our garlic bread, …and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trample on our lawns. And lead us not into vegetarianism, but deliver us some pizza, for thine is the meatball, the noodle, and the sauce, forever and ever. R'amen.”

Furthermore, Pastafarianism is a real religion. Some claim that the church is purely a thought experiment, a joke, illustrating that Intelligent Design is not science, but rather a fake science. These people are wrong. The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is real, totally legit. Anything that comes across as humor or a joke is purely coincidental.

After taking in this rather unusual information you might have some questions so I can answer some that I had while researching this topic. Is this a joke? A: It’s not a joke. Elements of the religion are often described as satire and there are many members who do not literally believe our scripture, but this isn’t unusual in religion – it’s only more obvious in the case of this particular religion. A lot of Christians, for example, don’t believe the Bible is literally true – but that doesn’t mean they aren’t True Christians. How could the world only be thousands of years old when it appears billions of years old? Well they believe the Flying Spaghetti Monster created the world much as it exists today, but for reasons unknown made it appear that the universe is billions of years old (instead of thousands) and that life evolved into its current state (rather than created in its current form). Every time a researcher carries out an experiment that appears to confirm one of these “scientific theories” supporting an old earth and evolution they feel that they can be sure that the FSM is there, modifying the data with his Noodly Appendage. They don’t know why He does this but they do believe He does, that is their Faith. Do people actually believe in this religion? Some Pastafarians honestly believe in the FSM, and some see it as satire. They would just make the point that satire is an honest, legitimate basis for religion. Satire relies on truth to be effective. If it’s a joke, it’s a joke where to understand the punchline you must be conscious of underlying truth.

If you think that religion is interesting and is right for you than its easy to join. Just call yourself a member and you're in. you dont even have to literally believe in the FSM. However if you dont see this as a legitimate religion and you see it as more of an atheist's club then you do just that.
